Is this burnout?

Do you get your self-worth from the quality of work you create?

Do you feel stressed?

Do you feel that you’re putting all of your energy into your work? That you’re doing more than your share? That your work is not appreciated?

I have bad news for you.

You are at high risk of getting burned out. Or maybe you already are.

So where do you go from here?

If you’re already burned out, you will need to start with a couple of weeks of rest (spend some quality time with your most important relationships), followed by a period of reduced workload and work-related stress.

What will help in the long run is a better work-life balance and a better understanding of the different kinds of work you do and the way each kind affects you. You don’t have to enjoy every second of your job. Some tasks are fun; others are just grunt work. Try to balance both kinds.

If that’s not possible, you should start looking for a different job—a job where you can find the right balance.
